Come Stay A While
My name is Alex Preston.
I’m a writer and director.
I shoot camera. I edit.
I love taking an idea and bringing it to life.

I’ve always been passionate about film, ever since I was a kid.
My introduction to the performing arts was at a much earlier age. I began dancing at age 3, and continued all the way through college. I trained in all genres of dance, and had the privilege of training with my mom as my first dance teacher.
Following the family business, I became a dance choreographer at age 15 and taught competitive dance in hip hop, jazz, lyrical and musical theatre dance. I produced choreography for the inaugural season of the Mercer University Dance Team, and coached competitive dance for three years following my graduation from Mercer University.

I attended Mercer University for my undergraduate education, where I studied Theatre and Media Studies in the College of Liberal Arts. I was the President of our campus TV station Mercer99, and even performed as the university mascot.
I attended Savannah College of Art and Design for graduate school, where I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television. At SCAD, I produced an array of original work as a writer, director and producer.

I was honored to receive the Dean’s Award from SCAD in 2017, and my first student Southeast EMMY Award nomination in 2018.
